Background: Currently in Indonesia, the growth of the motor vehicle industry, liberalization of government economic policies, aggressive media promotion, and poor public transportation systems have contributed to changes in the transportation scenario. This has triggered a modern disaster: air pollution, which can increase the amount of primary air pollutants and physical, chemical, or biological substances in the atmosphere, which degrades air quality and can lead to the spread of respiratory infections. The main problem and reason that drives this at-risk group to seek health care is shortness of breath. Patients and their families are often unaware that the various negative effects of air pollution and motor vehicle emissions trigger airway obstruction. Objective: The objective of this community service activity is to increase awareness, willingness, understanding, and ability to prevent respiratory infections through the distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE) among adolescents. Method: This community service activity was carried out using an approach to distributing PPE related to the prevention of acute respiratory infections. The stages of this activity include preparation, implementation, and evaluation. To identify capacity improvements in adolescents related to respiratory infection prevention, the McNemar test was used with a 95% significance level. Results: There was an increase in adolescent capacity in preventing respiratory infections among adolescents attending the Gagakan Kahuman Polanharjo Klaten mosque before and after educational support (p=0.024) with an average difference of 78%. Conclusion: Socialization of personal protective equipment (PPE) increased adolescent knowledge, attitudes, and capacity in preventing respiratory infections. Therefore, empowering adolescents in preventing acute respiratory infections is very necessary.
